The art project “Katzenreigen” consists of a Norwegian Forest Cat and a Bengal Cat, and its content draws on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s “Faust.”
At its core is an exploration of the conflict and ambivalence inherent in human curiosity and the scientific quest for knowledge. It addresses the desire to
cross boundaries, set aside moral considerations, and challenge prohibitions. This is counterbalanced by a warning not to cross certain boundaries and to reflect on the responsibility for one’s own actions.
The work combines improvisation, action painting, and calligraphy into a single performative whole. In synergy with atmospheric soundscapes generated live on a synthesizer,
a multi-layered interplay of image, movement, and sound emerges.
The performance lasts approximately 90 minutes.
